This article outlines how to change your Windows Default Photo Viewing Application.  The steps in this document only applies to Windows computers, and only necessary under very specific circumstances.

**   These steps are required if you print to a BU Staff printer that utilizes authorization codes and are trying to directly print picture files (bmp, jpg, tif, etc). The Windows 10 "Photos" app, installed and selected by default, does not properly work or prompt for authorization codes when printing. Keeping the default "Photos" app and directly from the app in the above scenario will result in the entire document queue blocking any printjobs for all users of that specific printer. The steps below will result in bypassing the issue entirely.   **

Changing the Windows Default Photo Viewer application

1) Type in the word 'default' in the Cortana Search bar (by the Start Button) and Click on the option "Default Apps"

2) Click on the Program under the name of the section that says "Photo Viewer", and change the option from "Photos" to "Paint" ^^

^^ OPTIONAL: If you are looking for a photo-editing program with more advanced support, you can download and install the free program Paint.Net The program can be downloaded from their website:  https://www.getpaint.net/download.html  Then simply repeat the changing of the default Windows Photo Viewer program by following the steps above.
