Open your Team from the desktop app or online (https://webmail.brandonu.ca) clicking the M365 app launcher icon and selecting "Teams" from the list of apps.
- Accessing files in a Channel: click the Channel in the left column under the Team Name Heading. On the right-hand screen, towards the top toolbar, click “Files”
- This lists the files for that Channel.
- You can upload and delete files and folders from within Teams. This works great for placing files and folders in Teams. If you wish to delete a folder, you must delete each file first…good news there is an easier way to manage the Channel…right through Windows File Explorer
- There are two ways to sync a Team channel with Windows File Explorer: “Sync” and “Add shortcut to OneDrive”. You may have to click the … icon to see these options.
-
Preferred method: Add shortcut to OneDrive
– applied once and appears under OneDrive on whatever device you login to where you access OneDrive (including the web/portal view). In File Explorer the Channel shortcuts have a small blue arrow on the folder
In OneDrive online under “My Files” the Channel shortcuts have an arrow and people icon on the folder. You can also see under the “Sharing” column which Team the shortcut belongs to.
If you no longer wish to have a shortcut to the Channel in OneDrive, you will need to login to OneDrive online (through the portal or through webmail), click “My Files” on the left, find the Channel shortcut you wish to remove, click the … icon then select “Remove”. This just removes the shortcut; it will not delete the files from the Team Channel.
-
Alternate method: Sync
– has to be done per-machine you login to and creates a shortcut to the files under the heading “Brandon University”. You will still need OneDrive installed on the computer as it uses OneDrive software to manage and perform the sync.
If you no longer want to sync the Channel, go to the OneDrive Settings and Stop the Sync BEFORE deleting the Channel in File Explorer, otherwise you will delete the Channel from the Team
