Sharing videos from Microsoft Stream

  1. Open Microsoft Stream (https://portal.brandonu.ca
  2. From the Teams Home screen watch the video "Securely upload" - it gives a visual of the text below  (2 min 24 sec long).
  3. If your file is not in Stream:
    a. Click the upload arrow towards the top right hand side of the screen
    b. Drag your file to the screen or click browse to find and upload your file
    c. Fill in information for your video while it is uploading: Details, Permissions & Options
    d. At the top of the permissions box uncheck Allow everyone in your company to view this video (if you do not uncheck this, then everyone at BU can view the video)
    e. When filling out the permissions, to assign it to People or a Team: in the Share with box, select "People" for individuals or "My groups" for groups or Teams, then type part of the user or group name and click the search icon
    f. Once the person/group/Team is selected, make sure that "Owner" is NOT selected and "Display" IS selected
  4. If your video is already in MS Stream
    a. Click "My content" > Videos
    b. Click the pencil icon "Update Video Details"
    c. In the Permissions section:
    1. uncheck Allow everyone in your company to view this video (if you do not uncheck this, then everyone at BU can view the video)
    2. When filling out the permissions, to assign it to People or a Team: in the Share with box, select "People" for individuals or "My groups" for groups or Teams . then type   part of the user or group name and click the search icon
    3. Once the person/group/Team is selected, make sure that "Owner" is NOT selected and "Display" IS selected
  5. Publish the changes if the button is active (not active for all changes) and then click Apply at the top of the screen
  6. Click the Share button and copy the address 
  7. For a Team, go to the Team you wish to make the video available in, Paste the link to the video in the post (you can create a channel for videos)
  8. For individuals, go to Outlook and past the link in the body of the email and send the email to those who have been granted access
  9. Your users should now be able to access the video
