This article outlines the steps required on connecting your Mac-OS-based devices (ie MacBooks and MacBook Pros, not iPhones or iPads) to the BU_Wireless network. These steps work for either the BU Brandon or Winnipeg campuses.   


If performing these steps away from BU campus grounds, you will encounter an expected error, noted at the end of this guide.


Setup for BU_Wireless


1) When using your Apple MacOS device, connect to any internet connection, open Apple "Safari" Browser. Do not use another browser (Firefox/Chrome), or steps may fail.


2) Access this link https://buconnect.brandonu.ca To proceed, accept the Terms & Conditions and click Start.






Students, Staff, or Faculty: you will be prompted to enter your BU Username and Password.

- Your BU Username is case-insensitive  (does not matter for upper-case or lower-case letters), Either your BU username or email address will work.   

- Your BU Password is case-sensitive.


Authorized Guests:  you will be prompted for your Voucher Code. Your Voucher Code will be 5 Upper Case letters.


Students, Staff, or Faculty:

3) Once you have successfully authenticated you will be prompted to download from several options.  This will vary based on your MacOS operating system. 



For machines running Mac OS X (10.15 aka 'Catalina' or older)




> Locate the downloaded application in Apple Finder's "Downloads" folder, or through the appropriate shortcut within your web browser. The content will be in .ZIP file folder. Double click to unzip, and open the CloudPath folder. Then run the Cloudpath Application by double clicking on the file. as follows:




> You may be prompted to authorize the application to make changes to your computer. Be sure to enter your Mac's local computer credentials if prompted at this point.


> The CloudPath application will now start to configure your device for access to the secure wireless network. The final step during the installer may give you an error depending on the following:  


> WHILE PHYSICALLY OFF-SITE FROM THE BU CAMPUS:  You will still get an error at the end, indicating that the BU_Wireless network could not be found. This is a normal outcome, and all of the required settings should still be in place. At the next point of when your device is back in range of the BU campus, it should be able to see and connect to the BU_Wireless network.


> WHILE ONSITE AT BU CAMPUS: If all the steps completed successfully, the final setup screen should display two checkmarks as seen below. Your device will of automatically switched over and started using the BU secure wireless network.







Confirmation of BU_Wireless connection


To confirm that you are connect to the secure wireless network, you can check the Wifi Networks available using the icon in the menu bar, and you should see a checkmark beside BU_Wireless SSID.  If you do not, you can click on it to try and connect.
